Looking at heroes

Working on Orqan Antarika had me thinking, I needed to think about the hero. Should he be a totally random guy? Some lowly guy doing some menial work and suddenly get himself in a total mess and save the day? Or should he be someone with authority, a sense of duty or maybe ambition?

At first, randomness sounded good because it says that anyone can do things if they really try. But then again considering there is no personality to the character the player might not feel obligated to act as I think she will. On the other hand if the character himself has personality and specific traits that dictate more or less how he is going to react in situations the player tunes herself with that personality and tries to get in the role.

I’m still thinking this but I’d like some more input from you guys….what do you think?

How about an Anti-hero? Depending on the story it could work really well.
